Port operators reported a third straight week of fuller export berths. Yards that stood half empty in August are stacking agricultural bags and engineering crates again, and two berths that had been on short hours are back on a full shift.
Shipping agents say the change is orders, not a one-off clearance of stuck boxes. Buyers who had paused in late summer are taking deliveries before their own year-end inventory counts. The port authority cautioned that a single rough week at sea could still bunch vessels outside the channel.
What happens next
Labour contractors have called back gangs they released in July. A crane crew that had moved to a private yard inland returned this week because the night differential at the dock is higher again.
The harbour master’s board shows no waiting list longer than eighteen hours. In June, the same board carried a two-day queue for non-priority cargo.
